Champagne is in order. I may not have submitted my thesis yet, but I finally tracked down my absolute favourite coat from Ennio Capasa's AW 2011 collection for Costume National. That season was insanely good – the spliced fabrics, the mohair jumpers and the motorcross elements – so I've been lusting after this biker-sleeved wool and cashmere coat ever since. Buying a new winter coat is always a fretful business. It seems like such a big expenditure, and it's something you're going to keep for a long time, so you have to get it right. I thought I found the perfect coat in a Margaret Howell herringbone a couple of weeks ago but, hélas, the only one left in the sale was about four sizes too big. And then this beauty cropped up online on just the right side of a 50 to fit a chunky jumper underneath. SOLD. Just need to find me some of those patchwork knits now...
