Impatient

I got bored waiting for the Margiela for H&M collection to drop in stores (Nov 15 if you're thinking of staying up all night to watch the website crash/queue in the freezing cold) so I decided to get the real thing instead.  For a while it's been my belief that these collaborations are a bit of a swizz, that you could probably buy pieces of the main collection in the sales for the same price as the inferior quality but super-hyped high street collection.  Especially, if like me, you're signed up to every discount warning from Lyst and think trawling Yoox for bargains is acceptable Friday night fun.  I was right — this chunky gold screw necklace is now less than a third of its original £300 price in the LN-CC mid-season sale.  The perfect addition to my cock-ring chunky jewellery collection.  The ribbon can be untied easily, so I'll be mixing and matching with a black cord depending on the occasion.   Sad that it won't then have the tiny little Maison Martin Margiela Paris gold plate but you win some, you lose some.

The good thing about this upcoming collaboration is that MMM are re-releasing archival designs for H&M to produce, so I may be tempted by a few items yet, although I'm definitely trying them on in-store first to avoid a repeat of the Marni fiasco.   I've heard promising stories about the quality from journalist friends but I've also been severely disappointed in the past.
