Úna Burke

I came across Úna Burke's [the síneadh fada's important :) ] artistic leather creations at the Vauxhall Fashion Scout exhibition during LFW while waiting for a show to start in the halls beneath and struck up a conversation with the chatty Irish designer.  Her pieces, which she considers more artwork than fashion, are inspired by the concept of medical prostheses and are an attempt to help normalise them within society.  When assembled as a whole they form an impressive statue-like installation (as you can see currently in the window of The Hospital Club), but separately they make excellent statement accessories, worn by fashion world doyennes such as Daphne Guinness.

It will be interesting to see if Úna evolves this work into a fully-fledged accessories collection or if she keeps it true to its artistic roots.
