Basso & Brooke Prints
So has anybody else spent the morning trying to purchase some of the Lanvin x H&M collaboration? I avoided the queues and tried to shop online, but the site kept crashing... And then, when I finally managed to get the blue metallic shoes I wanted into my shopping cart, the blasted website wouldn't let me pay. Thanks a bunch, H&M. Anyway, panic over, and time to go back to looking at some even prettier shoes - by Basso & Brooke no less. Remember when I sat first row at the Spring Summer 2011 show? I was totally blown away by the combination of vibrant and muted prints and wonderful cuts, so I was a very happy duck indeed to get to see those fabrics again, to check out what they look like under the microscopic view of my SLR lens... And, most definitely, I am still in love. Gothic text printed on top of futuristic digital scenes, tapestry-like rose designs, and metallic hues; those gradated harem-style trousers; typewriter fonts. L.O.V.E. Some of the colours are just so juicy you could bite right into them.
Oh yes, and the shoes. Who needs H&M when you can be rocking these bad boys? Produced by Gil Carvalho (who is, by the way, apparently now stocked by fun Westbourne Grove store Wolf & Badger), the slashed leather sports the same prints as the clothes and they all come with fun copper insides.
Sometimes I do wish I had dainty female feet to slip into these. But then again, you know what they say about ducks with big feet...
